These are very cute, and I think quite gender neutral. I chose them to decorate our child's bathroom walls and they stick great (paint is a semi-gloss for bathroom walls). I've used at least 3 other types of wall decals (for her bedroom) and some have been incredibly useless at actually sticking to the wall. Hooray for wall decals that do what they are supposed to do!
