Sesame Street Sesame Street Neighborhood Playset Review

After spending $40 plus on vintage used / incomplete Fisher Price, Illco, and Playskool sets (with many small pieces) on eBay, Hasbro's Playskool division finally has released the set that I've been looking for.
My 25 month old son just adores Sesame Street but we havent been able to find non-stuffed animal toys for him to play with. He is now at that action figure / create my own playtime phase where each toy has a different role. He probably got to this phase earlier than some by watching Toy Story and playing with his uncle's older 1990s toys at Mom Mom's house. Anyway, let's talk about this toy.
This playset isn't overly hard removing from the package. Scissors are not needed unless you find Cookie Monster difficult removing (he's encased in plastic). Two figures are included : Cookie and Elmo. A stationery Oscar is included (head pops out of the trash can). Other figures (Abby, Grover, Big Bird, Telly, Count, Elmo with Dorothy, Oscar, Burt, and Ernie) are available in 2 packs or with vehicles.
Pros:
- construction and durably seems to be solid. This should hold up pretty well even if your child swings it around or drops it.
- these PVC figures are taller and much thicker than past figures including the recent 40th anniversary ones by Fisher-Price. I like the size as it poses less of a choking hazard than past figures (don't get me wrong, you still need to watch your child play with these toys like any other).
- The street sign / lamp post is included. I do like how it's attached to the left side of Hooper's Store as this piece is the one that's commonly lost with the vintage sets.
- the interiors contain a clean design with well placed stickers and the use of quality plastics.
- the set folders into a carrying case with a handle.

Cons:
- since Big Bird's nest is built into the right side, why wasn't he included as well?
- since this Hasbro Playskool line is still relatively new, finding the school bus, fire engine, garbage truck toys can be hard (if your child likes Grover or Count Von Count, you will need to buy these as they are not sold separately.. Some figures are also hard to find like the Big Bird - Abby pack which is a shame since the nest is pat of the set as previously mentioned.
- the price can be considered high for what you get. Toys-R-Us and Amazon both currently charge nearly $35 while Target is $30. At least the figure 2 packs are reasonable priced at $6 and the vehicles are $10 and each come with a figure.
- not much educational purpose itself unless you incorporate educational games (like colors, story time, numbers, etc...) when both you and your child play this toy.
Summary:
My son enjoys this set so much that I purchased two of them. One is for our house and the other 'lives' at Mom Mom's house. I hope Hasbro continues and expands this line with more additions (e.g. Murray Monster, Zoe) because my boy loves playing 'Sesame Street' with his dad and mom.
